Lotus Hill Ancient Quarry

Lotus Mountain is located in the eastern outskirts of Panyu District, in the Pearl river delta. Covering an area of approximately two square kilometers, it is composed of red sandstone. The site is a mix of vertical quarry shafts (the tallest is 108m) and large grottoes. The official history has the origin date 2000+ years (See image from site below), but the large scale collapse and weathering of the site indicates an exposure to the elements of a much longer scale.
